We plan to send the first batch of CLVX 1 keyboards at the beginning of 2025.

CLVX 1 supports Windows 10 and 11. It also offers limited support for Linux (based on Gnome with Wayland enabled) and Android/iOS/iPadOS/WebOS/Tizen. For Mac support, please check the separate question. 

On Windows, CLVX 1 supports all gestures (one, two, three, and four-finger gestures, taps, and pinch). The TouchOnKeys app is available for installation, the mouse works in BIOS, and, of course, typing functions as well. 

Linux: Ubuntu+Gnome with Wayland or X.org (with gesture improvement extension): Typing, left-right clicks, scrolling, and native 3-4 finger gestures.  Zooming is not supported.

Other Linux variations/combinations should support basic touchpad functionality without 3-4 finger gestures.

All other operating systems support typing and mouse gestures, which means gestures are sent to the system as mouse HID signals. Among the limitations, scrolling that works like a mouse scroll (i.e., line by line), three and four-finger gestures don’t work, and pinch gestures send the CTRL + shortcut. However, you can still control a pointer, scroll, and click left and right. Watch the video to see how CLVX 1 works with other operating systems. 

Since CLVX 1 is an input device, it works in any application the same way as your mouse or touchpad does. 

You don’t need any special software to use CLVX 1. The keyboard works without special drivers, utilizing standard keyboard, touchpad, and mouse drivers. However, to unlock advanced features and customize the keyboard, you need to install the TouchOnKeys app (on Windows). 

The TouchOnKeys app unleashes the full potential of CLVX 1 by allowing you to add settings profiles, draw and set up custom touch configurations, and tune gestures, typing, and backlight. For a full description of the TouchOnKeys app, please visit its section on the website.

The keyboard’s battery life is up to 80 hours of uninterrupted use — about 3 weeks of normal usage (without backlight). 

The backlight can affect battery life depending on the brightness and color. However, power-saving features like turning the backlight off after 30 seconds of inactivity (and turning it back on with your first touch) help improve battery life. Actual working time on a battery with the backlight on can range from 8 to 15 hours of continuous use, leading to 2-4 days of normal usage (including breaks in keyboard usage).

CLVX 1 has an automatic type-touch switching feature. This is a core element of TouchOnKeys® technology, which has been in development since 2017. When typing, the touchpad is blocked, and it activates automatically when making a gesture. 

There are tools to fine-tune the sensitivity of type/touch switching to match your style: 

• Manual tuning across nine levels of Adaptive Intelligence. 

• Training CLVX 1 with the help of Adaptive Intelligence. After typing 10,000 symbols, CLVX 1 will set the best type-to-touch sensitivity for you. 

• You can also chat directly with our Support Team in the TouchOnKeys app if you experience any difficulties. 

There is also a keyboard-only mode for when you need to type for an extended period. 

Like with any other new keyboard, CLVX 1 may require some time to get used to. However, CLVX 1 was designed to be easy to use. It features a standard key pitch (the distance between key centers) of 19mm, a standard key layout, and advanced typing mistake correction algorithms. 

The typing experience is our focus, and we spent a lot of effort to provide an excellent keyboard experience. We have chosen a standard key force (60g) so that you don’t have to change your muscle memory (instead of making higher pressing keys, we’ve adjusted our recognition algorithms and corrected the 80g of first-generation TouchOnKeys®). 

Also, we designed new scissors (which are very expensive) to support a larger keycap size. A large keycap is needed to achieve the standard 19mm pitch (critical for typing) and keep the gaps small (critical for touch) — the current keycap is 18mm while the gap is 1mm — the perfect combination! 

To achieve high standards of keyboard module mechanics, we’ve collaborated with top keyboard manufacturers. Key flatness is one of these factors — there must be no height difference between keycaps to maintain a pleasant feeling while gesturing. Finally, there is the 5-point test, ensuring the key can be pressed in the center or at any corner. 

The keys have a special coating to make gestures even more pleasant. 

Our typing mistake correction algorithms significantly reduce typos when pressing between neighboring keys. By analyzing touch and keyboard data, the keyboard recognizes incorrectly pressed keys and ignores them, resulting in at least 50% fewer typos! 

This helps you adapt to CLVX 1 typing as quickly as possible, significantly shortening the learning curve.

Yes! Definitely YES! For those who type with both hands, we’ve designed a special feature that doesn’t require you to lift both hands from the touch area when gesturing — Magic Touch Zones.

As a core component of CLVX 1, the TouchOnKeys® technology (scissor keyboard with a capacitive touch sensor inside) meets all industry standards and is very reliable. This has been proven in three successful mass-production products made for different companies. 

The life expectancy of the keys is 3 million presses which is an industry standard for scissors-based keyboards. That in no way implies that the keys will break after 3M. Instead, it means that after 3 million presses in testing, all modules continued to perform remarkably. For the average user, 3M presses translates to years of use, which is the standard upheld in modern laptops.

The touch area extends from the left to the right Shift keys and from the Spacebar to the top of the keyboard module. It’s quite large: 186x84mm (bigger than that of the MacBook Pro 16”). 

Actually, the touch sensor is not located inside the keycap but rather is a solid layer inside the keyboard module. 

Clevetura was born from the idea that moving a hand from one input device to another is unproductive and disruptive. Since our incorporation in 2017 (and even a year before that), we have been trying to solve this core problem and create a new and better input device. We hope that TouchOnKeys® will eventually become a standard input device for a large group of people. 

The CLVX 1 essentially replaces a dedicated mouse. Imagine you are typing and suddenly need to use a mouse; it is much easier to use the CLVX 1 without taking your hand off the keyboard. The choice is up to you; however, extensive practice has shown that CLVX 1 is quicker by a margin. 

If you’re working in a professional application or software that requires the use of a mouse (like CAD or design software), you can set up the CLVX 1 touchpad and Touch Sliders for left-hand gestures and actions in the TouchOnKeys app, which may significantly benefit your workflow. 

The current version of our product will be only available in the ANSI US layout. However, we do have plans to release additional keyboard layouts in other languages in the future, though we cannot provide a specific timeline at the moment.

In the meantime, if you need a different layout or specific symbols, you can engrave them on the keycaps using the same procedure as for any other laptop keyboard. We’ve successfully done this many times ourselves, but please note that this would be your responsibility.
